Here is a 2018 BMW M3 CS for sale (VIN #:  WBS8M9C5XJ5K99352) in Black Sapphire Metallic (BSM).  The listing on M Sport Motor Cars states the vehicle has 75k miles.  Please note: If the original listing link does not work, this car has probably sold.  The attached CarFax report states the car has had 1 owner.  $49,800 is the current asking price.  Car is located in Hillside, NJ.

General Observations

This could be a solid value buy if you’re looking to experience an F80 M3 CS at the lowest price I’ve ever seen one for.  At that, one in bone-stock form with mileage high enough you could drive freely without worry.  This example is very reminiscent of the 41k mile example I wrote about not too long ago.  The only difference is this example has higher mileage, but $12k less in asking price.  It is equipped with the Executive Package and has the standard steel brakes.  It also has the M Performance carbon fiber mirror caps.  This is 1 of 118 Black Sapphire Metallic examples that were brought to the USA.

Going over the vehicle’s CarFax report, it has a 1-owner history.  It was owned within the Southern California area its entire life. This is a huge positive as the car likely has no rust issues.  This is something I would obviously verify this by getting the car on a lift and inspecting yourself.

Service records wise, its fairly documented through the CarFax report.  However, there seems to be some potential missing records that went unrecorded.  I would go to a local BMW dealership and have its entire service history printed out for you to review.

I always like to google the vin # and it appears this car was listed at one point with Cerritos Mitsubishi.  This is consistent with the SoCal ownership history documented on CarFax.  This is nice to know you are able to build a history and a story with the car.

The car was recently ran through an auto auction and the current listing dealer in New Jersey now has it for sale as it sits.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4s Tires & New Brakes

Another good sign this car was taken care of is that it’s sitting on a set of proper Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires.  This is a sign of proud and fastidious ownership as the previous owner didn’t cheap out on a set of replacement tires.

Per the CarFax report, it appears the pads and rotors were recently replaced at Sterling BMW on 07/17/2023.  You can tell the rotors are new as they have that
“serrated finish” associated with new BMW rotors.  This is a nice bonus and one less thing to address with the proverbial budget to sort a used car out to your standard.

Interior Condition

Interior wise, its as nice as its exterior, in my opinion.  For a car with 75k miles its interior shows as a car with far less mileage than indicated.  Looking at the normal wear and tear throughout, if I were to guess the previous owner used this car as a commuter car and rarely had passengers.  I say this because the only wear you can detect is the bolsters on the driver seat as seen in the photos below.

Bravo to the selling dealer for providing an extensive amount of photos for it’s potential buyers to go over.  One thing I noticed through these photos is that the soft touch plastic throughout the interior is in immaculate shape.  As stated above, the pride in ownership shows.

Looking closely at the Alcantara steering wheel, you can tell it was replaced recently as it appears to be in like-new condition.  Again, whoever owned this car was clearly an enthusiast took care of this car through and through.

Things I’d Inquire About This M3 CS

Paint Protection Film (PPF)

Going over the photos, if I’m not mistakened, I’m detecting the edges of existing PPF.  For a car with 75k miles and a front end that looks this good one could safely assume this.  Again, this is something you want to verify with the selling dealer or in-person yourself.

Maintenance and Service

A car with this type of mileage I would most definitely pay a trusty BMW indie mechanic or local BMW dealer to perform a pre-purchase inspection.  With 75k miles, one can assume there is numerous wear and tear items that probably need to be addressed at acquisition or something in the very near future.  This is something I would discuss with the mechanic performing the PPI.

Would I Buy This F80 M3 CS?

If I didn’t care about collectibility, I would absolutely at least consider this example.  For $50k, this would make a great daily driver and a weekend warrior.  Based on photos, again, it appears to be a well-kept car with many wear and tear items already addressed making it a potential value buy.  Coming from someone with an extremely low-mileage example, I wish I put more miles on it so I wouldn’t care to own it as a collectible.  These cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed.  An example like this, if it checks out, is something I’d almost want to consider as a 2nd F80 M3 CS to drive and enjoy freely.  Track time comes to mind…
