For Sale: 2018 BMW M3 CS w/ 10k Miles in Lime Rock Grey

Here is a modified 2018 BMW M3 CS for sale (VIN #:  WBS8M9C57J5K99860) in Lime Rock Grey.  The listing on Diamond Autosport’s website states the vehicle has 10,819 miles.  There is no complimentary CarFax or AutoCheck report attached so I’m unable to gather ownership history.  $86,999 is the current asking price.  Car is located in Sacramento, CA.

 

General Observations

First and foremost talk about one of the most highly optioned examples you can get.  The F80 M3 CS specific Lime Rock Grey paint was a $5,000 option to begin with.  You add the optional carbon ceramic brakes that were $8,150, then the executive package that was $2,600 you’re already at a $114,995 original MSRP.  Just to contextualize the base MSRP was $98,250 before the $995 destination charge.  Going over the car it has the ///M Performance carbon fiber mirrors, ///M Performance carbon fiber side skirt extensions, ///M Performance carbon fiber steering wheel insert, and lastly the ///M Performance DCT carbon fiber console trim.  If the car was truly optioned like this it probably had an original MSRP around ~$118k+ which would make it one of the highest MSRP’s you could achieve for an F80 M3 CS.

The selling dealer does not show photos of the engine bay so I can’t see if it was optioned or has the ///M Performance carbon fiber engine cover which would put the potential original MSRP on even higher level.

Performance Modifications

The selling dealer does not provide a description so I’m unable to tell you what aftermarket wheels the car is equipped with, nor can I tell you what suspension and engine modifications the car has.  Sort of a bummer that you have to inquire to get general information about the car.  Nonetheless, the car looks amazing and looks to have been a no-expense spared build. The only thing I did notice was the car is equipped with an aftermarket exhaust.  If I were to guess what exhaust, it looks to be Akrapovic.

Front Bumper

Looking at the front bumper, it looks to have a factory or aftermarket carbon fiber lower insert which is attached to the original OEM CS carbon fiber lower lip.  The original front-lip already hangs low on a stock height car which makes for driving around town a task.  I can only imagine if you tried daily driving a lowered example such as this with the carbon fiber insert as mentioned which pushes the OEM CS lip down even lower.  Potential collateral damage is all I can say.

 

Interior Condition

As an owner of a 5k mile example, I must say the interior of this car appears to represent what a 10k mile example should look like.  The leather looks to still have that fresh off the showroom sheen.  The Alcantara steering wheel looks to be in like-new condition with no apparent pitting or excessive wear.

Looking at the rear seats they appear to be used very minimally or never used at all. They legitimately look “fresh off the new dealer lot”.

 

Things I’d Inquire About

There is no CarFax or AutoCheck report attached, so the first thing I’d ask is to review its history.   I’d look to see if the car has had any reported accidents, how many owners the vehicle has had, and last, but not least, it’s service history if available on the CarFax report.

There is no listing description and no photos of the engine bay so I’d want to delve into that further. This car appears to be heavily modified so I’d want to know what exact engine and performance modifications were done. Original receipts are key which is something else I’d inquire about. Receipts would help paint a history of the vehicle. They would also be nice for insurance purposes if this applies to you.

Paint Protection Film (PPF)

Scanning through the photos I can’t determine if the car has any paint protection film.  Again, there is no description so there is no way to know unless you inquire which is annoying considering the asking price.  I will say judging the overall spec of this car I would be shocked if it doesn’t have PPF applied.

Previous Ownership

Outside of that, I’d also ask the selling dealer about the previous owner.  This is such a nice example in my eyes I’d want to know why the car was sold. I’m sure there is a logical explanation as people move on all the time. It’s just something nice to know and keep in mind during the vetting process.
