For Sale: 2018 BMW M3 CS w/ 43k Miles in Alpine White
Here is a 2018 BMW M3 CS for sale (VIN #: WBS8M9C53J5L00311) in Alpine White. The listing on Autotrader states the vehicle has 43,500 miles. Per the attached CarFax report it states the vehicle has a clean title and is a 1-owner car. $73,985 is the current asking price. Car is located in San Juan Capistrano, CA.
General Observations
This particular example is a very high option example. It is optioned with the executive package, carbon ceramic brakes, ///M Performance carbon fiber mirror caps, and ///M Performance side skirt decals. It is 1 of 125 Alpine White examples that were brought to the USA. Adding the coveted and rare carbon ceramic brakes it makes for a very rare example. I believe for ALL US M3 CS’s, regardless of color, there was less than 100 examples optioned with ceramic brakes.
In relation to the current M3 CS used car market, 43k miles is on the higher side but looks to be well cared for. Going through the photos I can’t spot any glaring anomalies. There’s not very much to pick apart on this car.
The CarFax is pretty spotless. No accidents reported and routine dealer service is documented since new. Like most M3 CS examples this car was initially leased. Per the CarFax it was purchased by the original owner after the lease ended. I mention this as of potential importance as typically 1-owner cars that are owned long term tend to be better cared for than ones that exchange hands multiple times. “You tend to care for things that you own long-term” as the saying goes. This isn’t always the case obviously, but it’s often times a good initial sign.
From what I can see the car is equipped with possibly a mismatched set of Michelins. This is something I would verify if I was a buyer. Based on the the sidewalls the rears look to be Michelin Pilot Super Sports and the fronts look to be either a set of Cup 2’s or 4s.
Interior Condition
As per my previous for sale post, being that this car was owned in the sun belt (Southern California) where UV rays are the enemy of preservation, it’s nice to see this example has dark tinted windows to help protect the interior and it shows, in my opinion.
The steering wheel looks to be in like new condition and would question if it was replaced recently as Alcantara material tends to wear and age horribly. Just to clarify this is not a knock on the vehicles pedigree, but rather a positive, because either way who wants a worn down steering wheel.
Outside of that, again, there isn’t much to pick apart on this example. Even with 43k miles the front driver seat which tends to have the most wear and tear appears to be in good shape. There is some minor wear on the side bolsters but nothing that isn’t consistent to the mileage of the car. In my opinion, the car seems to have been meticulously owned and cared for.
Things I’d Inquire About
Paint Protection Film (PPF)
As a previous paint protection film (PPF) installer, I’m unable to determine through photos if there was any PPF applied. It’s not mentioned in the description so I would inquire about that. Either way, at least in photos, the front end looks to be well preserved as I’m not seeing glaring rock chips that a car with this mileage would have in abundance of by now.
Maintenance and Service
Per the CarFax report you can see this vehicle was regularly serviced though Irvine BMW. Like my previous for sale blog entry that had similar miles I’d consult with a BMW dealer or independent mechanic on what upcoming service and maintenance this car would need so you can understand future operating costs now that the car is presumably out of warranty.
General Disclaimer
I’d like to first clarify that I am not connected to the seller or platform in any way. When purchasing any vehicle, I highly recommend doing your own due diligence before consummating a deal. My personal insights and opinions that I’ve shared through this post stem from my cautious perspective and carry no responsibility for the actual condition of the mentioned vehicle. I highly recommend arranging a 3rd party pre-purchase inspection with a trusted mechanic. I also recommend researching the vehicles history through a CarFax or an AutoCheck report.
